4th September 2005 - Sunderland's RNLI Lifeboats (B-762 & D-625) assist a 21ft fishing vessel which had run aground in thick fog

Sunderland RNLI Lifeboat Call Out - 4th September 2005

Both inshore lifeboats launched to assist a 21ft Fishing Vessel which had run aground on White Steel Rocks at Whitburn. The visabilty at the time was less than 100m. The 5 persons on board had managed to reach the shore unaided. After arriving on-scene the ILB was used to transfer the A75's tow-line to the casualty while the A75 stoodby in safe water. After approx. 20 minutes the lifeboat was then able to pull the vessel clear of the rocks. The vessel was then towed back to its moorings at Sunderland.
