Fundraising News - Stadium of Light Collection

A fundraising collection which was held at the Stadium of Light before the Premier League match against Blackburn on Boxing Day raised a fantastic total of £6,362 for Sunderland RNLI. - (Full Story)

Volunteers based at Sunderland’s RNLI Lifeboat Station were last night presented with a donation from local community groups which will be used to keep the lifeboat volunteers training up to scratch.

The £500 donation was made by members of Southwick Community Centre and a dance group from Hylton Castle Club. Included in the donation was a thirty five pound contribution made by Southwick Community Centre member Mary Burton; who received the money at her recent Golden Wedding Anniversary party. (more)

Fundraising News - Sunderland Lifeboat Day 2008

Even light showers couldn't dampen spirits at Sunderland RNLI Lifeboat Day as crowds flocked to the shore to see the days events.

The annual event to raise funds for Sunderland RNLI was hailed a success after almost £1,800 was raised.

Crowds of people flocked to watch an array of activities put on by the emergency services from Marine Walk in Roker. (more)

Sunderland-based Coastguard Rescue Officer (CRO) Mike Cowe and Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) colleagues, Ron Carroll and Ian Rowan, will each receive the Society’s Resuscitation Certificate for reviving Charles William Nelson, 44, of Roker Avenue, after the dramatic rescue in Sunderland Harbour. RNLI crew members accept the cheque in memory of mark langton from joanne maughan with her daughters claudia and rachael

RNLI crews who battled in vain to save a teenager who drowned off Hendon Beach have been given a special donation from his friends and family.  Mark Langton was swept to his death by a 15ft wave as he played with pals on the first day of the Easter holidays, two years ago. (more)

Station News - New Lifeboat Naming Ceremony

Our new RNLI lifeboat was officially named at a special ceremony last Saturday [8th September] by a representative of the company which funded her. We were only the second lifeboat station in the north of England to receive an Atlantic 85 class lifeboat, which is one of the lifesaving charity's most technologically advanced vessels. Fundraising News - Hylton Castle Club Donation

A 50/50 dance and Bingo RNLI fundraising night was organised by and held at Hylton Castle Club. The event raised a total of £582, which will go towards the running of the our RNLI Lifeboat Station.
