Lifeboat launched to assist a fisherman who had fallen into the water at Sunderland Fish Quay. Thankfully the man was able to recover himself from the water prior to the arrival of the lifeboat. After treatment at the scene, he was allowed to make his own way home.

Both boats were paged to "Immediate Readiness" while an RAF helicopter and HM Coastguards attempted to rescue a man and his dog cut off by the tide at Ryhope. The man and his dog were winched to safety by the RAF, and the lifeboat crews were then stood down.

Crew paged after a man was reported 'missing' in Whitburn after failing to return home from a bait collecting trip. As the crew were assembling, the Police located the man safe and well at a family members home.

Boat diverted from training exercise to assist the crew (4 POB) of an 8m Inflatable RIB which had suffered an outboard engine fire 1/2 mile off Ryhope. Once the fire was extinguished by the boats own crew, it was taken in tow back to Sunderland Marina.

Launched after a '999' call reporting that a vessel was in difficulty off Seaburn. On arrival no vessel was sighted, so a full search was carried out with RAF Helicopter (131) and Coastguard team. After searching between Whitburn and Roker Pier upto 2 mile offshore the search was terminated. Further information suggests that the vessel made its own way safely into harbour.

Launched to support the Fire Brigade & Coastguard involved with the rescue of a man who had fallen from Sunderland North onto a ledge below the end of the pier. The lifeboat stoodby while the Fire Brigade recovered the man back onto the pier using rope rescue techniques.

Both lifeboats diverted from PR launch during Lifeboat day to assist a man suffering major chest pains on Roker Pier. RNLI Lifeguards assisted the Paramedics to enter the pier while the Lifeboat Crew treated the man. Once stabilised, he was taken to Hospital by Ambulance.

Three men (early 20's) rescued from sea near Cliffe Park, Seaburn. All three were rescued by friends and members of the public using life-rings (PRE). Once on the promenade, they were given first aid by off duty RNLI Lifeguards before being taken to Hospital by RAF Helicopter and land ambulance.
